Please contact organizer\, Leah Greif\, if you plan to attend. \nFrom Mary’s website: \n\n\n\n\n\n“My work is rooted in the belief that joy is a form of resistance. \nIn a world that often asks us to shrink\, dim\, or disconnect from ourselves\, I create art that does the opposite—it reignites\, expands\, and remembers. Through bold color\, layered texture\, and abstract form\, I make work that reconnects people with their vibrancy—the part of them that still feels curious\, alive\, and full of possibility. \nMy materials and process mirror this emotional landscape. I paint on transparent polyester film using fluid acrylics\, letting color slide\, pool\, and collide on uneven surfaces. The result is organic\, expressive\, and intuitive—compositions that are less about telling a literal story and more about creating a feeling. A reminder. A spark. \nBecause your light was never lost. \nIt just needed something to reflect it back.”

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a free docent led tour of Grant Wood’s Cedar Rapids studio and home. The Grant Wood Studio is owned and operated by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and is a member of Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios\, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. \nAdmission is free during regular Studio hours thanks to a grant from the Esther and Robert Armstrong Charitable Trust. The Studio is located at 810 Second Avenue SE near downtown Cedar Rapids. A free parking lot is available for Studio visitors. Please note that while the Armstrong visitor Center (ground floor) is handicapped accessible\, the Studio on the second floor is not. \nThe Welcome Center is located on the main level and has an informative video for those interested. \nPlease contact Teri Ellis if you are planning to attend. \n
