Our Purpose
The purpose of our organization is to foster the interest and
cultural growth of our members and the public through programs, workshops and exhibits.
Together, we’ll spark imaginations and create unforgettable experiences in the world of art!
Our History
Creative Artist’s was formed in 1970 by 45 artists under the leadership of Edwin J. Bruns, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, art instructor.
The purpose was to have an organization to promote their artwork locally. Their first exhibit was at the Social Security office and at Collins Radio (now Collins Aerospace).
In 1973 the fine art event of “Art on the Fence” was added and held on the historic Brucemore Mansion grounds. Because of the winds and weather, the spring show moved indoors in the future years.
Since 2012 Creative Artists has held a major art show – either Spring or Fall. The home page will show the details.
This wooden butterfly was constructed and painted by Creative Artists members as part of the “Iowa Butterfly Effect” in Marion, Iowa. It is a rendering of our logo. It can be found on display in the front of the Marion Heritage Center, our meeting headquarters.
